To be eligible for admission to the B.Ed. course at SSVCTE, candidates must meet the following
criteria:
1. Academic Qualification:
- A B.A/B.Sc. Degree from the University of Calicut or an equivalent degree under the
10+2+3 pattern with a minimum of 50% marks in Part I+II+III together, or 50% marks
for Part-III alone.
- Candidates with a Master's Degree in the same subject with a minimum of 50% marks
are also eligible.
- Candidates who have pursued a double major during their BA course are eligible to
apply for the B.Ed. course, and they can choose to specialize in either one or both of
the subjects from their BA degree as optional subjects in the B.Ed. program. However,
they must submit separate applications for each subject.
- The minimum qualification for admission to the B.Ed. courses is as follows:
o For Bachelor's Degree programs in Science/Arts subjects, a minimum of 50% marks is
required in Part I, Part II, and Part III combined, or 50% marks in Part III alone. There
should be no rounding off of the percentage of marks to the nearest whole number.
o For Commerce/Computer Science disciplines, a minimum of 50% marks in Post
Graduation is required in the relevant field.
- In addition to the mentioned criteria, any other qualifications that are considered
equivalent or eligibility requirements, rules, and regulations for B.Ed. program
admissions set by the University of Calicut from time to time will also be taken into
account.
2. Equivalency Certificate:
- Candidates who have completed their qualifying examination from universities outside
Kerala must provide an Equivalency Certificate issued by the University of Calicut,
stating that their qualification is recognized as equivalent to the University of Calicut.
3. Relaxation in Marks:
- SC/ST candidates (including natives of Lakshadweep) and Teacher Quota candidates
require only a pass in the qualifying examination.
- SA 5% relaxation in marks is allowed for OBC, SEBC, and OEC candidates.
- Blind candidates receive a 5% concession in aggregate marks.
Note: Candidates should be physically fit and mentally sound. Deaf/Dumb
candidates are not eligible. However, blind candidates will be eligible for admission to
Course other than science optionals.
4. Age Limit:
- SThere is no upper age limit for admission to the B.Ed. course.
5. Nativity:
- Admission to the B.Ed. program is primarily for Keralites, but non-Keralite candidates
can be admitted to a maximum of 10% of the management quota seats in Private Selffinancing Colleges.
